Navigation International Jazzfestival Bern

UPDATE: November 5, 2020

Based on the cantonal decree from October 23, 2020 all upcoming concerts of the 45th International Jazzfestival Bern from October 24 ongoing will unfortunately not take place.

This extremely short-term decision was a very hard blow to all musicians and staff, who in the first four weeks have worked very hard and with a lot of dedication to make these concerts possible during these unusual and strainful times.

The prohibition of operating concert halls and –clubs is in effect until at least the end of November and can be prolonged by cantonal or national decree at any time.

Acknowledging this current – higly unsure – situation, we have decided to not continue with the remaining six concert weeks of the festival this year.

All artists that were scheduled to play in the remaining weeks (Youn Sun Nah, Veronica Swift, Tuba Skinny, Cedric Burnside, Guy Davis, Curtis Salgado, Shemekia Copeland) will be integrated into the program of next year’s 46th International Jazzfestival Bern (scheduled for March through May 2021). The exact dates of next year’s festival will be posted here by the end of November. Needless to say, all is depending on the international development of the Corona crisis.

All tickets for the remaining concerts will stay valid for the new dates by the same artists during next year’s edition of the festival. Guests with tickets bought through SeeTickets will also be informed by SeeTickets directly via email.

We are very sorry about this situation, but at this point it is simply impossible to continue with the festival – and we will return with live music as soon as possible. Stay healthy!

Safety measures COVID-19 during the International Jazzfestival Bern

Due to the current situation and the circumstance that social distancing can not be guaranteed at all times have led us to introduce special safety measures in Marians Jazzroom for the duration of the 45th International Jazzfestival Bern:

- Marians Jazzroom will only be accessible through the main hotel entrance (with the exception of disabled persons) and not through the restaurant entrance.

- The entrance is signposted from all areas. There will also be visible distance markers at the  club entrance and in the foyer.

- The use of face masks is mandatory for all guests and staff alike for the duration of the entire concerts in Marians Jazzroom.

- Because of the face mask obligation, there will be no food and drinks served before, during and after the concerts. Guests will have the possibility to buy water bottles for CHF 5.—which they are allowed to take with them into the Jazzroom.

- Before, after and between the concerts, Guests will have the possibility to eat and drink at various on-site locations: Josephine Brasserie (6.00 p.m. – 12.30 a.m.), Jazztent (6.00 – 11.00 p.m.), Parc Café (until 8.00 p.m.).

- The air condition in Marians works with fresh air and the used air is withdrawn. There is no used air circulated in the club.

- Contact tracing will be done with forms, to be filled in by one guest per table / party. The form will request name, address, phone number and email address. For each concert, these forms will be confidentially sealed in an envelope and kept for 14 days. After this time, the forms will be destroyed. None of this  data will be collected, stored, used or passed on.

We are confident that with these measures, we can offer a safe concert evening to all our guests and staff alike. We look forward to start the new concert season with you all.
